SS1

When I first started this assignment I was a little overwhelmed, but after getting into it it wasn't as bad as I thought. The first two times I did the spreadsheet I am not sure what I did but it didn't save. I was frustrated but each time I did it I got quicker. The formulas were much easier than I thought.

After uploading it to google docs it was very easy to create the chart. It seemed hard when reading the directions but after uploading it and actually having it there helped a lot. The chart was very easy to create. After I saved it as it's own, I wondered where it had went. I then realized it was saved as a chart on a different screen. I was relieved. :) All in all not that bad of a project!

Visual Ranking Tool (Group Project)

My partner and I decided to do our projects on the nine planets. On the intel site, the students have to put the planets in order. Also, included in our description of our project is a book saved as a pdf file about the nine planets and a follow-up quiz. We also put a website www.kidsastronomy.com to put in our description. This site had several activities. One of my favorites was the students were able to create their own planet.

My partner for this project was Kimberly Klinger. We worked really well together and I enjoyed doing this project with her. We split the project duties and each took on a part to get this project completed. We called each other to confirm all of our plans and I'm really glad that I was paired up with Kimberly. She was great! Thank you, Kim!

Photoshop Express

This was really amazing and I had no idea something like this existed and for free! There were so many things you could do with photoshop. I was able to upload my pictures and decide what transition I wanted and choose audio to go along with my slide show. I just used what the program already had for my song and it was the butterfly song since Vanessa means butterfly. My pictures go in a circular motion. It was my favorite. After I made my album, I save it in my gallery and was then able to use my photoshop address to link it to my blog. Very cool program!!
I hope you enjoy my album!

Web Album

I never knew it was this easy to upload photos online. Picasa is a easy tool to use for this. I downloaded Picasa 3, then chose which photos on my computer to upload, and them uploaded them as a web album. There were other things you could do with Picasa such as crop, adjust the brightness of you picture, and more! This is a great way to share images and will definitely use in the future.

Online Graph 2

The graph is organized by the lower state per capita income to the highest state. The results of this graph were very interesting to me. My graph shows that WV has the second to lowest per capita income, yet has the lowest amount of students on an IEP. I found that the state with the least money is not always the state that has the most students on an IEP. As my graph shows, there is a big jump from Utah to Kentucky. Kentucky has the most money on the chart and also has many students on an IEP. The results of this assignment and the graph shows that even though some states are poorer than others, the students on an IEP appear to be lower, with the exception of Mississippi who is the poorest state and has more students on an IEP than West Virginia, Arkansas, and Utah.

Online Graph 1

It was interesting to see how WV scored in NEAP scores compared to the national average. It is disappointing to see that WV is behind the national average however I feel we are moving closer to closing the gap. We were closet to the national average in 2000 and farthest from the national average in 2005. I feel that WV is doing all we can and preparing our students daily to preform closer to the national average. Using kidzone was awesome. I had never used this before but will definitely use this in the future for graphs of my own and think that students could easily use this as well. Great program!

Screen Grabber

I searched the internet for a fall scence being in the fall mood that I am in. Once I found this beautiful picture, I used the print screen button and then pasted the image into Paint. With my image in Paint, I cut just this picture from the web page and copied it into a new page. I then added text, saved it as a 24-bit Bitmap and used the add an image link under postings in my blog. The size of my photo is 219 KB and is 349 X 214 pixels. I learned about the print screen button from another computer class and think it is a very cool tool.

I could use this in my class by saving some images from the internet using the print screen button and saving it to paint where I could edit the image and add text to view later with my whole class to build literacy background.

Graphics from Scratch

This was one of the more easier assignments. I used paint to create my self portrait. Since we could only use five lines, I used the curve line for the mouth, the pencil for the eyes, the brush for the nose and spray paint for my hair. I used colors to make my picture more real. I saved my project as a 24-bit Bitmap. I then uploaded this to my FTP and linked it to my blog. Here is my graphics from scratch self portrait.

Lesson Plan Photo Story

Creating this photo story about my lesson plan was pretty easy since I had already created an introduction photo story. I am very happy to have had the chance to use photo story and have thought about a lot of ways I can use this with my class and with other teachers. Students could preview lessons at home and other teachers could view lessons that I have created. I hope you enjoy my lesson. Here is the link!
